In today's program, we continue to present the services that companies can use to achieve a marketing mix that is appropriate for achieving their goals. Today we introduce one of the most important ones: SEO . We have already talked about it here, but if you haven't had the chance to listen to us before or if you want to know more about the subject, then don't miss today's program and the next 3.
WHAT IS SEO AND WHAT IS IT FOR?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. In other words, it is a set of techniques used to improve the positioning of a website in the list of results presented by search engines like Google when people search for something.
But be careful, we are not talking about making the website appear to people who are searching for the name of a company – that is not complicated, but those who search for the name of the twitter data company are already familiar with it; the objective is to make the website appear to people who do not know the company but are searching for products or services that it has to sell, that is, who show interest. That is what matters and can allow you to attract new customers .
Let’s look at some examples. If you search for “rural tourism in the West”, the first website to appear when you search was that of a country house in Cadaval, followed by a farm in Lourinhã and a rural hotel in Peniche. But have you ever wondered why? In other words, how does Google decide which websites to display and in what order?
HOW DOES GOOGLE DECIDE THE POSITIONING OF WEBSITES?
It works something like this:
Through a program known as Googlebot or Spider, Google frequently crawls the Web looking for new sites or updates to existing sites, a process known as crawling.
It then indexes these pages into a gigantic catalog that it caches.
When a user performs a search, what Google does is compare the words searched with the textual content of the pages it has indexed.
It then uses an algorithm to analyze the relevance of each of the pages , an algorithm that incorporates at least two hundred on-site and off-site ranking factors.
And finally, Google displays the results considered most relevant to the terms searched and what it understands to be the user's search intention.
In other words, content nurtures relationships with potential customers, which could constitute a competitive advantage when they decide to buy a certain product or hire a service.
From a search engine optimization perspective, we can draw 3 quick conclusions from this :
First of all, you need to ensure that your website pages are indexed by Google.
Next, it is important that websites speak the language of the target audience , meeting the way they search.
Thirdly, to increase the chances of obtaining a good positioning, it becomes necessary to know the Google algorithm , which changes very frequently.
