The state of São Paulo recorded a 68% increase in the net number of new business creations in the first half of 2022 compared to the first six months of 2019, the period before the coronavirus pandemic. Board (JUCESP), an agency linked to the Secretariat of Economic Development, there were 87,809 new businesses opened, compared to the 52,267 opened three years ago.
Compared to the first half of 2021, when the number of new businesses opened was 84,861, the increase was 3.5%. Compared to the same period in 2020, the net result was 46,391 incorporations, an increase of 89.3%.
This milestone is attributed to a series of initiatives developed by the State shop Government, in conjunction with various initiatives by other agencies, government agencies, departments, and entities directly related to the commercial sector. JUCESP has sought to digitalize its services to streamline processes and expedite the creation of new CNPJs. Processes that previously took four to five days to complete are now completed in up to 24 hours. Since then, record openings have continued to be set.
"It's important to recognize the entrepreneurial spirit of our state. We have a dynamic economy here, with many people wanting to start their own businesses. It's no surprise that JUCESP data shows such strong growth in business openings," commented Zeina Latif, Secretary of Economic Development.
In 2021, JUCESP achieved a record number of new business registrations, with 288,502 new businesses established in the state of São Paulo, the highest number in the historical series since 1998.
The state of São Paulo also recorded a record number of new business registrations in the first four months of the year, with 94,043 CNPJs registered. This is the best performance for this period in the last 24 years, surpassing the 88,618 new businesses registered in the first four months of 2021 – the best to date.
